Junhao Song is a first-year PhD student in Computing Research at Imperial College London, fully funded by the Hitachi–Imperial studentship. His research is supervised by Prof. William J. Knottenbelt and Prof. Enrico Biffis. Prior to his PhD studies, he completed his Master of Science in Applied Computational Science and Engineering at Imperial College London in 2025 under the supervision of Prof. Lluis Guasch and Prof. Siyang Song. His academic journey began at Heriot-Watt University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Computer Science (Artificial Intelligence) in 2023 under the supervision of Prof. Wei Pang and Prof. Ronald P. A. Petrick.
His current research focuses on representation learning and stochastic modelling, with a particular emphasis on Markov decision processes and quantitative analysis applications. Previously, he worked extensively in the fields of self-supervised learning, computational intelligence, evolutionary computation for model optimisation, and diffusion models for interactive video generation. He focuses on constructing mathematical models to learn representations and derive solutions from real-world scenarios.
